Catch up post; photo overload!

It has been two and a half months since I posted a blog post, and I’m not really sure why! But I thought I would share photos from what I’ve been up to since my last post. Enjoy!

And then some non cake photos of what I've been up to!
We went to the Watermark Beach Resort in Osoyoos, it was fantastic, definitely the place to stay in Osoyoos!

And let's not forget Hank xoxo

Organization prevails!

What a week! You have NO idea how awesome it felt to throw my “to-do” list in the garbage yesterday around 3pm. My organization and prioritization skills were challenged this week, but I think I prevailed, if I do say so myself. Usually a self-admitted procrastinator, but this past week I was really on the ball.

As most of you know, Cakelicious is my side job; so I calculated how many hours I put into cakes this past week, from Monday through Sunday, and the total was 29 hours. I don’t know what it was about this wonderful week in February, but it was the chosen week for 2 weddings, 2 baby showers, a 30th Birthday, a memorial service, 3 valentines orders and let’s not forget the Valentines day Cake pops I had on special!

I don’t have photos for all of the events, as I wasn’t present for all of the set ups, but I’ll share with you the ones I do have photos for.

My “to-do” list, I CANNOT function without a hand written “to-do” list, even with all the iPhone app options in the world, I still love a good ole pen and paper list.

Peacock inspired wedding – which received fabulous feedback on my facebook page, thank you again for all the love.

Louis Vuitton replica hand bag cake for a 30th Birthday Celebration.

First wedding at Whonnock Hall this year.

Cake pops for my Valentines day Cake pop special.

Hank’s moment to shine. He decided it would be a good idea to wedge himself between the screen door and the glass door, he continues to amaze me with his craziness.

Wishing you all a Happy Valentines Day tomorrow and Happy Birthday to my dad <3
Love Heidi

P.S: Leave me your thoughts, I LOVE blog comments :)

2012 is going to be great; I can feel it!!

Hi everyone,

On Wednesday I attended another wonderful Heartlink event and one of the attendees, Lorie Phare, mentioned that I had promised to blog about the Maraschino Cherry cake I made a few weeks ago, and I totally forgot, so here I am, ready to share the recipe with you.

The recipe is from one of my favourite bloggers, HeatherBaird from SprinkleBakes, she actually has her first book coming out in May and I pre-ordered it on Wednesday, I can’t wait for it to arrive.
You can fine the recipe here, I didn’t use the same frosting though, I used the Italian meringue butter cream recipe that I’ve used before, because I was comfortable with the process, you can find the link via my post “Hoping for an Indian Summer”

Here are a few photos I took with my iPhone while I was making the cake, unfortunately there are none of the frosting making process because it is quite strict and I had to focus ALL of my attention on the recipe and the steps involved. This was only the second time I had made it so it still made me a bit nervous.

Since the Marachino Cherry cake I’ve made some other creations.
First off some cake pops for the “Show some SkIN” show in Maple Ridge to showcase the new artist at Haney Ink, Brandon Francie.

Next a baby shower cake

Then it was on to my first wedding of 2012 at Swan e set; this year is going to be great, I can feel it!

Next was a Transformer themed cake for Hilery’s son, Hilery makes wonderful gift baskets, you can check her out on facebook at Give a wrap.

Lastly was a dinosaur cake for one of my biggest fans. Reece has been a long time Cakelicious fan and I was so excited to create this cake for him!

These are the treats I made for Wednesday’s Heartlink event. Red Velvet cupcakes with Cream Cheese Frosting.

If you follow my facebook page or my tweets you may know that I have a special on for Valentines day; What better way to say I love you than with cake pops!

I was taking prototype photos for my cake pop add and a little kitty named Hank couldn't keep out of the way, check it out!

Love,
Heidi

Happy New Year

Happy New Year everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season. Things are back in full swing, back to the 8-5 day job and gym routine. I thought I would share a few photos with you from my Christmas Holidays.

First off I decided to try and re-create my own version of Starbucks Cranberry Bliss Bar because it is sooo yummy, and I have to say I think my tops theirs! This bar was so tasty and was gobbled up by all of my family members. I used Taste of Homes White Chocolate Cranberry Blondies recipe, but I used frozen cranberries not dried. Then I made my Lemon Cream Cheese Frosting and sprinkled with dried cranberries and drizzled with white chocolate. I highly recommend making these!!!

Last week I had two weddings to bake for, but unfortunately only have a photo for one of them. This was another beautiful wedding at Swan-e-set!

Lastly a photo from our New Years Eve; friends of ours got married!!! And they had a photo booth. It was such an awesome way to spend our New Years Eve; we had a blast (as you can tell from the photo below!)

Stay tuned next week for a Grapefruit Flavoured cake i'll be making this weekend :)

The Festivities Continue

Christmas is only 5 sleeps away and I feel like I still have tons to do, but all fun things; gift buying, gift wrapping, baking! I have two days of work left, as in my day job, and then I'm off for 11 days. I will not see my office cubicle again until 2012! Over the holidays, aside from 3 family dinners and many lunch and dinner dates with friends, I have 2 weddings to bake for, so I look forward to sharing some photos with you late next week.

This past weekend I did a bit of Christmas baking, I made Hershey Macaroon Bars and Hershey skor cheesecake bites. The cheesecake bites are to die for!! If you would like to give them a try you can find the recipe here.

Sunday we went to the Festival of Lights at VanDusen Botanical Gardens. It was beautiful!!! Definitely put me in the Christmas mood seeing all the lights, and sipping on apple cider. If you decide to check it out, I highly recommend pre-purchasing your tickets on-line, the line up for those who did not pre-purchase was out of hand. I've included a few of my favourite photos of the evening.

Last night I decided to do some gift wrapping, which proved to be a challenging task with a Kitten in the room. I think he'll be more happy playing with wrapping paper than he will his new scratching post.

Before I go I wanted to share a photo from Help Portrait. You may have read my previous blog post about the amazing event, and now that the photographers have all uploaded their photos I was able to find a photo of the man who really touched my heart. I really hope his family enjoys his portrait, and hopefully he comes back next year, along with many more people from the Maple Ridge Community.
